Game Over Yeah podcast!
We were stoked to be on game over yeah’s podcast the past monday; chatting to Dave and Leon about our games BUT more important stuff like cats vs dogs vs pandas the gloriousness of Stargate SG1 (which Leon is marathoning through too!!) and Final Fantasy.
Man, watching Stargate has been such a relief from all the intense stuff on TV. We ran dry on shows to watch and decided on Stargate. It’s freaking brilliant.
It was really early for us (4am) which we were mega happy as leisure suit larry to do, though our brains kind of gave up and while we had lots to say in our minds, there was a big disconnect between our minds and mouths.
Even though it looks painful I totally laughed when I saw myself be like “Hold up Naz I got this. Prepare for my eloquent explanation of our third game” only to totally NOT have it at all – super funny.
So if anyone cares there are just a few things I really wanted to say at the time but couldn’t get it out… must have been side tracked by the glorious chin cam.
1: Marmalade SDK & quick has really good cross platform capabilities, AND they featured our apps on their site which was really, really nice of them. We highly recommend Marmalade. We wouldn’t have gotten those games out everywhere so quickly without it.
2:Windows Ph actually featured both games a lot and we aren’t entirely sure why. There are some Windows fairies that just do nice things I guess? and whoever they are THANKYOU. But for all the flack Windows Phone gets, we’ve found that the dev community on windows is VERY supportive.
They also actively work to improve things. Windows update times are now sometimes faster than Android. One thing we did miss and mainly because we are new, we had to limit our games to the higher end devices (performance) missing out on the most popular 520 models.
If we make another phone game we would probably prioritise windows phone and keep those users in mind.
3: Pandas ftw, ff13-2= nope actually all that cast of 13 were awful except Vanille & Fang. I really liked 365 days (KH). The footage from 15 looks cool as flip (loubiton boots?) and I can’t wait to play but it says a lot when you can go back and play 7/8/9 and still be gripped in by the story and game flow without all the mad action. I played 13 mainly to just get through it; have no intentions of replaying it at all – the weapon shop system I freaking hated.
Anyways we had fun chatting to Leon and Dave, so if you are a gamedev and have a game you want to chat about totally contact them and listen to their podcasts 😀 Brits have the best voices.
